A Pete Sparks & Bob Henneberger tributary by Dawnrest Bob Henneberger owned the famous HUNKY a.k.a. TOAD, although Pete Sparks owned HUNKY when he won in Cuba with handler J.T.Collier. He studied dogs all over the country while taking numerous pictures of them. It seemed like he video taped Hunky in Cuba with so many shots, he then made duplicates for everyone to see. Pete talked more about HUNKY than many of the dogs he fed and he had the blood of most at one time or another. He followed HUNKY related offspring closely with each breeding as far as a few generations past CH MIDNIGHT COWBOY/CH CHIVO/GR CH CANDY and more, always being proud HUNKY was in back of the COWBOY/CHIVO/PIGGY dogs. Merle (Eugene) Thurmond R.I.P, James Lee, Two Hawks (Simard), Paul McPherson and other Floridians at the time carried this line on. He seemed to favor the black & tan CHIVO dogs the most. He said; "I had OCALA COWBOY until he was old and he never did sire any, they say he did though". When Pete couldn't care for his dogs due to old age, different men would visit him in Florida and steal dogs from him while often swapping them with some cull they found or didn't want. It was hilarious as many of them began stealing and trading the culls. Bob Henneberger was a great friend of Petes and helped him with his periodical. Bob owned Henneberger's ROSE, another pure Colby dog double bred in the 4th generation of Burkette's (Loposay's) TIGER LILLY and Hunter's MIKE. Pete and Bob both had a passion for Louis Colby's dogs. TIGER LILLY is in back of Finley's CH BO ROM, sire of CH CHARLIE, CH JEEP, CH MISSY, CH OUTLAW, etc. and MIKE made a great impact as well. Bob Henneberger studied the breed extensively and you can instantly see his importance. His most famous quote proved his astonishing insite in breeding and the breed, He said; "I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT TO THE BREEDING FUTURE OF HIGH QUALITY DOGS THAT OLD STRAINS BE MAINTAINED AS SEED STOCK, AND KEPT PURE BY THEIR RESPECTIVE BREEDERS".
Submission by Mark (volsalumni22) Can anyone tell me why my 15 month old male still submits to other aggressive dogs (non-bulldogs breeds)? He hasn't shown any dog aggression at all as of yet. Is this normal? Thanks! Submission reply to Mark (volsalumni22) by Dawnrest You wrote; "Can anyone tell me why my 15 month old male still submits to other aggressive dogs (non-bulldogs breeds)? He hasn't shown any dog aggression at all as of yet. Is this normal?" I understood it as being plural because of the wording: [still submits] [to other aggressive dogs] [(non-bulldogs breeds)]. Maybe he won't start at all but he is still young and treating him as such won't hurt. Proper training in the direction for whatever purposes you want him for is fine. He will become a fully matured adult during the next couple years. If your chancing a cedarbrook, stratton, etc. bred dog, at least give him the full chance any dog deserves. Good luck to you. Submission reply to Dawnrest by Mark (volsalumni22) Dawnrest, you are right, he is only a pup and he is definately well loved and taken care for. Thank you very much for your feedback and advice. It is well appreciated. Also, thanks for taking the time to chat with me.
Yes, and related/crossed/linebred/inbred "Black Shine" reply to Stomp until I die (PitPolarBear) by Dawnrest I do have related ancestry to "Stompanato", including crosses to him and his ancestors in other lines. I had one small black/white female runt, "M C", I named after M)aurice B. C)arver, similar to Finn's "MBC", Finn being Magic kennels and a friend of Carver, out of a W.Lacefield's pure inbred Carver foundation crossed with the proven producer, Young's "Bad Man" Rom. I could care less who said what in Tx., W.L., if he still feeds dogs is quite a few states from there. I don't know who most is, what most has, or even if most knows. I do know I care about these dogs for good reason. In this case, that would be like saying linebred and inbred pure Carver blood from dogs such as ("Stompanato"/"Diamond"/"Tiny"/"Miss Spike"/"Fannie"/"Belle" or lets say "Bad Man" ROM offsprings are unworthy and unchecked or pure Carver dogs, most of which have proven bellymates and offspring from them. A knowledgeable breeder could use blood such as this and improve it if needed. You can see how throwing back to get a dog like "Goggles", one could rework and improve Carver or "Stompanato" blood, or cause Carver reversion. Your welcome to see him in person or on the males link from my home page or see the female foundation link to the "M C" ped.. I use related blood to cross the Dawnrest family and strain and usually only chance letting it in with one breeding, so the percentage of the original blood then increase again with each subsequent breeding. So my percentages stay with more of what I want or had in the dogs and the genetics stay related to pull from more good, providing one knows what good is and how. While "Goggles" and bellymates were linebred/inbred 5/8 Carver and 3/8 related, Boudreaux/Colby/Lightner etc., the latter two possibly more than is reflected on a ped, none of this blood has been placed out of this family yet. This blood crosses well with Dawnrest because it is related so tight with "Ch"Rascal", "Ch"Homer" Rom, "Ch"Midnight Cowboy" Rom, "Buster" Rom, "Ch"Honeybunch", etc. and "Ironhead"/"Black Widow"/"Dibo" etc., which is what a large portion of Dawnrest is with outcrosses to related lines and strains. All have heavy Carver's "Black Shine"/"Eli Jr." and "Bullyson"/"Missy"/"Miss Spike" and "Boze"/"Dibo" crosses. I've fed other pure Carver dogs and Carver crosses, see Dawnrest's "Knucklehead" and "Red Angel" foundation peds which are in many Dawnrest dogs or see the "Brutis", "Poison Eye", "Little Homer" peds etc.. Let us hear more about your Stompanato dogs. Lacefield blood by STEELHEADkennels Hell im from TEXAS I own lacefields domino shes a damn good example of what these dogs are about. She produced really well when bred to sixbits and parkson .When bred to big guy i dont think those pups turned out to be the quality that there was with the other breedings.I just recently bred her to some shorty blood. I feel we will get excellant dogs from this breeding take care STEEL HEAD kennels
I'm Don Carter/Bits on Pits reply to MM (TheGameDog) by Don Carter I found this site by just searching under Bits on Pits. I'm still around folks. Haven't matched a dog in several years, but last one I sat down I won BEST IN SHOW with. He was a 46 pounder and his name was Kodiak. I didn't own or breed him. I just shaped and handled him. He was one of the greatest middleweights I've ever handled/seen. I have lots of back issues of Bits on Pits. I'd be willing to part with some but can't tell you what I would charge. It wouldn't be much. They are all originals. I'm looking for a match dog I can borrow, or a well bred pup. I want to "do" one more before I get too old. I'm 54, and started with the dogs in 1967. I was active for nearly 30 years. I fought many dogs in Walter Komosinski's pit. I met Harry Clark, Ham Morris, Paul Sweeney, Frank Fitzwater, and many other old timers. At one time, I was partners with Bill Anderson who fought dogs with Howard Heinzl and who was a great dog man. If I can help, let me know... Don Carter / KY
Don Carter (Bits on Pits) A blast from the past! by Dawnrest Don knew Walter Komosinski and had his picture taken with him. Don was also pictured in the first Stratton book back in 1976. Don is pictured with me on this site. Don was the editor of Bits on Pits. Don knew the old Divine's Cassius Clay (Corvino) dogs. Don saw Bullyson. Don wrote some stories for the SDJ for awhile. Don has old mags for sale if your collecting. Don left his email at the other post to contact him. Don Don Don and the list goes on. Don is in his mid 50's, he's an old friend and good man. Dawnrest Dogs Thank you! reply to Dawnrest by Don Carter I just wanted to thank you for your kind words about me. I saw Bullyson fight his last fight against his son in Texas in the early 70s. I also saw the old Cassius dog. I refereed Zebo's last fight. I saw many of the old dogs in action. You're right-I'm 54 years old now. I started with the dogs in the late 1960s. Long time ago. I fought over 25 dogs in the years I was active. Never lost but 2 matches. Not bad for an old hillbilly. It's been quite a while since I sat one down, but I still remember how to do it. I'd love to hear from dog men everywhere. I'd be happy to hear from anyone, and answer any questions anyone may have. Some things never change... Don Carter / KY Memorys by finkle winkle Hi Don; Nice too see you on board,as you maybe remember you sended my pal Peter H and Ron O some Cassius dogs a long time ago.My Dutch dog,my son and i,were once pictured in your mag. As you maybe know Peter died on a much too young age,and he's still badly missed in this neck of the woods. All the best from the Finkle Winkle
Post from the Mayfield purest family board by pitdogman Dear Dawnrest, I think Mr Mayfield has been researching you. If he fully understands is the question cuz it looks like he got in over his head. I want to thank you for your help. check your mail and reply asap. yis pitdogman Nature SUNNYVALE!! THE TRUTH by Don Mayfield This past year ive been ask many questions about breeding a game family of dogs in the breed. What i talk from comes from my understanding that i have proven true in my rescrech of the breed ,,,,im a beliver a breeder can start with the truest purest bred familys in the breed today ,,,and breed them RIGHT as to the truth the GAME and breeders have proven in the records,,,and never have to PROVE one dogs GAMENESS ,,,,and after 20 years that family will be gamer then it was when that breeder started breeding it 20 years before. The truth in this understanding is one must start with a TRUE bred family thats one of the purest familys in the breed ,,,but the family must be bred true just like the pedigrees say on the dog ,,,without the truth of the dogs breeding such as this can not be done. the records show its about breeding the genes in the purest familys,,,when one understands the way the game genes have to be bred for ,,,then they can breed that way,, and never have to prove thir dogs,, and breed a game family of dogs,,,now understand this can not be done with a outcrossed family with untrue bred dogs in thir heritage. Its called FAMILY BREEDING ,,,its very close family breeding of line breeding and inbreeding ,,and outcrossen kin within the same pure family. This is the same way the wild of NATURE is bred,,in the wild of NATURE . The only way this understanding can be understood is with the TRUE PEDIGREED FAMILYS ,,,This is a game about TRUTH SEEKING,, and PROVEN the TRUTH in our UNDERSTANDING . What im talking about is not a part of the BREED thats to be PROVEN ,,,what im talking about is a part of the game thats ALLREADY BEEN PROVEN. True Colors by Don Mayfield Like we said ,,we know little about breeding the genes in the was to creat different colors ,,but let me tell yall about some of the breedings we have made and seen it happen in the family breeding in the way of color. In King Tuts litter thir was three sets of twins ,,each set was a male and a female ,,and each set was of a different color,,one set was white ,another set was black ,,the other set was red rednose,,,this litter came from the breeding of a all black male and female ,and thir heritage had been all black for the last 4 generations. We was breeding for color ,,we were FAMILY BREEDING in the way of LINE breeding,, breeding the familys genes more pure.AS we look BACK in trying to understand more about breeding and the genes in a game family ,,,i would have give anything to have been able to breed such a family as that litter with King Tut,, in a way as breeding them for COLOR ,,,such as starten each family with a brother sister breeding of the same color twins,,and breed a WHITE FAMILY,,a BLACK FAMILY ,,and a REDNOSE FAMILY,,with the same understanding we had and was breeding in the way of family breeding ,,,LINE BREEDING ,,INBREEDING,,and OUTCROSSEN,, in the SAME FAMILY. Research Science by Don Mayfield We tryed to get the subject of BREEDING and the GENES of COLOR the color RED in the breeds genes did not come from one family in the breed ,,it came from the three different sets of the different beast thats the beginning make up of the breeding of the dog ,,this gets into science,,the color black in the dog comes from the lepard cat family of beast ,,,or is it the black Bear that the dogs black gene comes from ??? You see the color genes go back much more in the breeds heritage ,,then the different familys of the breeds heritage Diary of a Madman by Ozzy Osborne Jesus Christ, it's all clear now! LMAO!!! If these aren't the ramblings of a madman, then Maurice Carver was an honest dogman. Egyptians and Lepards by Don Mayfield It seams the swisters ask me over and over to answere thir same twisted questions about the breed of the American Gamedogs. We have posted a number of times how the breed of American Gamedogs ,,were bred here in the U.S.A.,,from the understanding of the most OUTCROSSED bred people in the world. We have said,,,the purest breed of dogs throughout mans history ,,,has been bred by the most OUTCROSSED bred NATION of PEOPLE at that TIME in HISTORY. Long before England and Ireland were breeders of the purest proven familys in the breed of GAMEDOGS ,,,the OUTCROSSED bred ROMANS were the breeders of the GAMEST BREED of dogs. Before the Romans the breeders were the OUTCROSSED bred GREEKS ,,,and before the Greeks the breeders were the OUTCROSSED bred Egyptians. Over the years we have rescreched deep into the breeding of the most OUTCROSSED bred people,,who were the BREEDERS of the GAMEST PROVEN BREED OF GAMEDOGS in thir time. The records show the PUREST BREED of dogs were the GAME PROVE N dogs,,bred by the most OUTCROSSED bred people of that time. WE as GAMEDOG BREEDERS understand the meaning of OUTCROSSED BREEDING,,and PURE breeding,,and can relate with this story about the history of our American bred breed of GAMEDOGS. The records show when the gamest proven pure bred familys of gamedogs came from England to America in the 1600,s,,they were called English Bulldogs,,later the breed became known as American Bulldogs. Over those last 400 or so years the Americans became the most OUTCROSSED bred people in the world,,,and at the same time bred the purest breed of proven gamedogs bred by man throughout the world,,,,the gamedogs were bred with the UNDERSTANDING of the OUTCROSSED bred AMERICANS. The records show the purest familys of the breed came more from England then they did Ireland,,it shows in those 400 years the purest proven familys were crossed and proven in the breed,,,and bred into a breed that had one family in the breed that was the most proven. Th e breed over the 400 years was proven and changed names a number of times in those 400 years,,,and within the breed the people with the OUTCROSSED bred UNDERSTANDING,,bred a family in the breed that became the purest family in the breed,,and was the MOST PROVEN in the BREED. The breed is now called the AMERICAN GAMEDOGS ,,the PUREST PROVEN FAMILY in the BREED is the "DIBO FAMILY",,that has been the most proven family in the breed over thoses years bred in the U.S.A. by the understanding of the most outcrossed bred Americans. ???? by Tightbred Mr Mayfield, Can you explain the reasoning that leads you to believe that your family of dogs are "more pure" than other families, like Colby dogs?
The Founding Pit Dog Men in Northeast New England by Dawnrest The men importing the foundation dogs during the last 50 or so years of the 1800's in northeast New England, U.S.A., brought about the breed name change to be known as the American Pit Bull Terrier. Since then, they have also been known as the A.P.B.T., American Bull Terrier, Yankee Terrier, American Game Dog, Pit Bull, Pit Dog, Bull Dog, and American Pit Bull Dog. These are some of those men and their friends who imported and in turn kept up with the blood: Burke, White, McCart, Stamp, Rogan, Powers, Rafferty, Moore, Campbell, Lattimore, Delihant, Croxen, Addison, Clinch, O'Neil, Connolly, McLellan, Farren, Harley, Fox, Colby, Shepard, Mullin, Malone, McCarthy, O'Rourke, McGough, Collagan, Gay, Farmer, Ward, Nagle, Ryan, Sullivan, Lamphrey, Boutelle, Rooney, Gallivan, McPhee, Quinn, Thornton, Racine, Murphy, Wordan, Mitchell, Gibbon, Jennings, Dunn, Sheridan, Dowd, Morrell, Vose, Lentz, Schaefer, Nevin, Feeley, MaGuire, Redican, Connors, Sheardon, Degnan, Harrington, Cockline, Slavin, Fagan, Noonan, Dalton, Reardon, Duffy, Immigrant, etc.. Which lines are now strongest in truth and proven bloods from the original northeast New England foundations? These gentlemen kept proven families and strains. They reflect honesty from that era in periodicals, in pedigrees, by word of mouth, and in trusted notes. Understand that Lightner, Maloney, Brown, Henry, Tudor, Shipley, Trice, Scaggs, Hemphill, McCoy, E.Crenshaw, Mason, Dickinson, Ritcheson, Humphrey, Mossburg, Saddler, Sparks, Loposay, Shivar, Corcoran, Allen, Owen, Shipley, Bruce, Neblett, Waller, Conklin, Corvino, Heinzl, Conklin, Williams, Armitage, Donovan, Carver, Clark, Komosinski, and many others got there dogs from or down from the hard work of these northeast New England men. Sometimes called their English or Irish imports, those dogs were truly imported by the earlier immigrants in northeast New England. Authors may overlook this when they write American Pit Bull Dog history and other geographical areas often take credit. To explain Corcoran didn't import Irish dogs, a New England Irish man did, or that Colby is English not Irish, after it has already been written is not easy. Bull dog is in the blood of the honest individuals and experienced breeders with true comprehension can maintain it, otherwise it's just names of dogs and owners. The less familiar are being drawn to the increased dishonesty now visable in many areas concerning this breed. Partially caused by greed and jealousy, this can cause a corrupt and unstable breed. The gentlemen of the past worked hard in the northeast of New England and up into Nova Scotia to pass down these wonderful animals to us. In turn certain Americans have dishonored them, their dogs and this breed. Honesty in all areas concerning the greatest American dog is the only way we stand a chance at preserving our American heritage and the original U.S. mascot. DNA is the next step! Honest Bull Dogs can be useful to all people. They are still out there, just as there are still gentlemen, aren't there.
Looking for Dawnrest's Wejack reply to J. Grice (Spiderg) thread from anonymous by Dawnrest Black Missy was brought to GR CH JOEY to make the breeding before JOEY was a CH, one could see it coming. I kept the choice male and female from this planned breeding. I also have other blood from and related to Black Missy. The litter reg and letters were sent to adba explaining a mistake when RBB signed as litter owner because he didn't plan the breeding or own Black Missy and Two Hawk wanted the Dawnrest name on those pups with or without the Two Hawk name but it was never fixed because RBB registered as a kennel name at that time. Two Hawk went to Mi. with Black Missy a couple years later and was busted there, Black Missy was confiscated. Some Mi. boys tried busting her out and got all black dogs but missed her and she was put down by the h.s. soon after. Maniac was only bred 5 or 6 times at about 3 years old because it was apparent his offspring were better from the breedings made, more Dutchboy, Boze, Eli were linebred in with similar crosses. Then that offspring produced true to type with resembling characters, like the two sets of twins Warlock and Ch.Wicked Witch, Wallbanger and Widow Bit. These dogs were bred to quality pure Colby dogs and pure Boudreaux dogs now in one dog to keep their qualities within reach. We did keep a line of Maniac dogs with none sold to the public called Miss Maniac blood, two times Maniac, three times his dam Black Missy and four times her sire CrackerJack ROM, all of which are now linebred tight into a family. Black Missy was also bred to Big John which is inbred Ch. Paladin/Ch.Ironhead and inbred Tramp Red Boy 2x foundation crossed in because of related Dawnrest crosses and Black Missy, again. It's no doubt Black Missy was an exceptional dog. The over population of the breed and mass quantities may have caused permanent problems for the breed in the states. I'm not thinking about ROM's, nor will I likely be the cause of one, it's not my style. I never stayed where I started and never produce quantity, not interested. Is this the person who was suppose to get the old Jackie dog from Blanco? I'm sure James may want to breed to WEJACK but Blanco is quiet after what happened so maybe you can get his cousins # and email him.
Plain leather dog harness reply to Pete (ThePistol44) by Dawnrest If your looking for a plain brown leather harness, go to the Supplies link on the Dawnrest Dogs Home page or the Resource page. Then scroll to Newman Leather & Nylon or an old friend - Obrien Dog Supply or an old friend - Hurricane Kennels in Australia if you don't mind S&H. Hurricane does some good leather embossing from some old Dawnrest book designs as you may see. If you don't find what your looking for try a few of the supply companies, like KV or Omaha. Also Colby Kennels has harnesses, don't think their plain leather but you may want to check. If you still can't find a plain leather harness I'll help more or you provide the measurements and I'll get you one.
QUESTION 4 DAWNREST reply to Choice (TuffGame) by Dawnrest I placed a good brother of Smack named Spike nearby. He sired 2 pups out of Red Eye. I kept one named Boston Sox and the other is near. Smack was by Ch Yardboy and out of Witchy. Witchy was by Warlock and out of Tramp, inbred Tab and triple inbred Jeep, Rascal on bottom. I placed Smack as a pup in Louisiana where he stayed for awhile. I think he was next fed by the x-men. I heard he was bred but the pups were registered under a different alias, I don't positively know. He was then sold by the original Louisiana owner to Tennessee. He lived in that area. Of his bellymates none have offspring except Spike and Smack. A belly sister died in Ohio from a vet artificially inseminating semen A.I.S., too many took. Smack himself was a rugged pup, I never saw him in person after he left. I think he sired a dog out of a Mtn. Man's Boyles cross for KD who had him last I knew. Everything else I've heard about Smack I did not see. Smacks owners have been good to talk to. I'd like to have Boston Sox offspring, it's not going to be easy.
Ed Crenshaw's Stu-Fowler? reply to Loose Juice (DashforCash32) by Dawnrest There is a few people breeding Eds Stu Fowler crosses. I recommended PITBULLLACKEY to a foreign friend and he wrote back three times a month later, thanking me. Or you could use close related family ancestry. Also you may want to check Granger bred dogs. D & D may help you, R.D. is an honorable man. Re: Dawnrest Thanks For The Responce But How Do I contact D & D? by Dawnrest D & D has pure Ed Crenshaw and Granger (Ed Crenshaw dogs), he should be able to help you if you can locate him in Texas, he's a good man. G. Lackey does feed that blood, not as old as the Granger or D & D, somewhat crossed, not far from either Ed Crenshaw or R. D.. If you see any Loranca breeding down from Stroud and Sanders pure Ed Crenshaw, thats top notch, it was often crossed with Tom Greigo or Geronimo. Stu-Fowler II is common now. Try boards related to NM and TX areas. Good luck! Ed Crenshaw dogs by Dawnrest If he owned D & D's "INVADER" 3x, pure Ed Crenshaw dog from Granger, an honest Ed Crenshaw dog named D & D's "RUFUS" - pure Colby / Lightner, other Ed Crenshaw related dogs, had a partner under the D & D name, has a son, is still active, tried to get some of my Knucklehead blood and knows Dawnrest, is an honest man, and is R______ D________, thats the original D & D, the one I know, from Texas and his partner Dibble then was also. I do have his postal mail address, he did mail me quite a few times, he also mailed B.C. after that same blood. I won't give out a # or address without approval. According to TNT the website I listed is a different D & D with the same alias, it's edited out thanks to TNT. Also LJ, Ed Crenshaw's Stu-Fowler is a Colby / Lightner cross, so similar ancestry of equal or better quality may help. If anyone does talk with the right D & D, R.D., say hi from us. G. Lackey's site is down, he is also in that same area, has Ed Crenshaw crosses, and his e-mail is working last I knew. My sister, niece, cousins and friends still live near Eds home.
Colby Dogs reply to Just Me (mygsxr_1999) by TNT you could not be further fromt he truth! There are many Colby dogs and colby crosses in the fast lane today. The traits of this line are intelligence and wind!! great cross to any line!! especial Jeep, Eli and Hank dogs. Colby Dogs by Tracy (Flatheadrider) Dawnrest's Timepiece is a pure Colby's Dime bred dog that I own and is without a doubt game. Hats off to Dawnrest for breeding this fine example of what a bulldog is suppose to be. Colby Dogs by Big Hoss I seen Colby's Toby go uphill 4 lbs and kill a 4x winner Mayday bred dog, in 1:15. Never made a turn and never showed a bad sign. He was only 16 monthes old at the time also. Heres the kicker. The man that ownes him keeps him as a house dog. Anybody that says Colby dogs don't have it anymore are retarded or just jealous.
Choice of "IVERMECTIN" reply to Shelly (D-fyant Kennels) by Dawnrest "Ivermectin" is listed under many brand names and types for dogs, like chewables, pastes and tabs. The reason the caution "This product should not be used in other animal species as severe adverse reactions, including fatalities in dogs may result" is listed, is because that specific product is not FDA approved for dogs or as an injectable for dogs. An overdose of this product can damage the nervous system and cause fatalities. There are many uses for Ivermectin 1%, however, many other products may be more suitable for specific needs including other broad spectrum wormers. If you choose to use "Ivomec" injectable 1% solution for Cattle and Swine in a 50 ml. it should cost around $39. where as the generic brand "Vedco" should cost around $29.. Thats a savings of 20% but, why use a generic brand when you can pay much less by simply changing the brand without the risk of lower quality. In other words, check out "Double Impact" injectable Ivermectin 1% for Cattle and Swine or "Prozap" injectable Ivermectin 1% for Cattle and Swine. "Prozap" costs about $22. and thats near 45% savings over "Ivomec" and 25% over generics similar to "Vedco". Lucky you only need the 50 ml. bottle, because buying multiple 500 ml. bottles, the ten times larger size is costly. I'am not suggesting you disagree with the FDA or labeled cautions, I'm just answering your question. If you have specific uses in mind or other questions I'm here.
Blast from the Past by Dawnrest The King, 1960, original author unknown MORALE _ Pit Dogs are thrilled with the joy of fighting, in their heart they never know defeat, they love the shock of combat more than they love life itself. All he asks is to be given the opportunity to live happily or die gloriously. Fear is no kin to him, its meaning he knows not, he is the King of all animals and the bravest. GOD'S GIFT _ Man is coward because he is afraid to die, yet he is King and Ruler of earth. The Bible says animals were put here for man to use as he wishes. To the fighting dog, death has no meaning, because it is glorious. The fighting dog is God's gift to mankind. Dog fighting is an art that has never been equalled. The game dog will die for his master, with his head high. He will not flinch when chewed on, he will not flinch when he is beaten and dieing, but will hold his head high until death. The pit dog is something to live for, because he is God's wonderful gift, and only the men who love the fighting dog alone, will ever know, and show us what cowards we really are. The game Pit Bull Terrier is King of Courage and of Love. revised by Dawnrest
1-AD PROHORMONE by Dawnrest I don't recommend steroids. ERGO pharm's organic chemnist, Patrick Arnold has developed the steroid alternative "1-AD". It is a natural androgen made in the human body, so it can be sold legally as a supplement. It is said to be 700% more potent than testosterone and has no estrogen transformation, reduced water retention and may be quite safe. You'll soon see alot about it. It is much stronger than alternatives from the past. As for dogs and 1-AD, no one knows yet. More 1-AD info reply to Magoo1154 and Johnson by Dawnrest ErgoPharm is taking the lead in sports nutrition. P.Arnold has been developing T-Booster supplements for ErgoPharm for 6 years. He has made great advancements in that time. 1-AD lists for just over $40. per 60 caps and the dosage is regulated by weight. This supplement was developed for people. Some dog owners all of a sudden claim to have been using this for years, but it was just developed after working hard on it during the last year and a half. 4-AD and nor-4-AD were developed just before 1-AD. The amount given will differ for canines. If someone is anxious i suggest going light on the product while watching the effects and taking notes. It's going to take a few years to get alot of opinions to weigh differences. I already have a pretty good opinion but I'm not promoting anything. However I will tell you more about it because it is legally sold. 1-AD is a synthesized nontoxic natural compound. It is potent and best of all it is orally active with no liver toxicity and sold as a nutritional supplement. Many people are already using this product. One of my concerns as with steroids is how heavy use may effect the bodys ability to produce testosterone naturally especially in youth. You can be assured 1-AD should be safe when used properly. T-Boosters increase energy, fat loss, mood, muscle mass, performance, sexual drive, immune system, etc.. Arnold also developed 4-AD and nor-4-AD prohormones. Stacking these products with 1-AD can be fast acting and very effective. You can e-mail for more info. to Sales@ergopharm.net.
Glucosamine__A Natural Alternative! by Dawnrest Glucosamine is not only useful for conditioning sporting and working dogs for competition, but it can also be used to treat arthritis or osteoarthritis especially in older dogs. If you're interested in alternatives to Rimadyl or other dangerous prescription drugs used for treating arthritis or osteoarthritis, first consider upgrading your dogs nutritional needs, because the bulk of todays dog feeds are known as primary causes of many dog health related issues including arthritis. Next you may want to study the natural alternatives to prescription drugs such as shark cartilage and seriously look at all other alternatives such as Glucosamine.
Milkbones__Do You Know? by Dawnrest MilkBones are not always a treat. Do you know that RJR Nabisco, our second largest cigarette manufacturer, also manufactures MilkBone dog biscuits? The Beagle you see on the MilkBone box could be a dog the RJR Nabisco uses for testing tobacco products. Beagles and other animals smoke by force, and using machines. Experimental smoking is performed by cutting holes in a dogs throat to hook them up to smoking machines where they're forced to inhale concentrated cigarette smoke and by strapping masks to the face of dogs and monkeys. They insert electrodes in the penise of dogs used for measuring the effects of cigarette smoke on sexual performance. Consider this next time you pass by Nabisco MilkBones, Bacon Strips, Butcher Bones, or T.C. Biscuits in the store, and I mean pass right by. It's no secret that smoking kills numerous humans; smoking kills mans best friend too.
PITY THE PERILS OF ENGLISH BULLDOGS by Dawnrest "THE MEDAL OF HONOR" SHOULD GO TO THE ENGLISH BULLDOG! IT WAS THE 1940'S WHEN SELECTIVE BREEDERS BEGAN TO OVER AND I MEAN OVER EMPHASIZE THE LARGE HEAD, JAW, BROAD CHEST, SHORT LEGS, NARROW THIGHS, ETC., THAT CHARACTERIZE THE MODERN DAY ENGLISH BULLDOG, BEAUTIFULLY UGLY. IN THE 1960'S THESE CHARACTERISTICS WERE SO DEVELOPED THEIR PUPS LARGE HEADS COULDN'T PASS THROUGH THE BIRTH CANAL WITHOUT FETAL AND MATERNAL LOSS. NOW MOST ALL ENGLISH BULLDOG BIRTH IS BY CAESAREAN SECTION. THE BITCH HAS A PAINFUL RECOVERY FROM SURGERY WHILE THE BREEDER HAS TO NURSE THE PUPS. TO TOP THAT, THE ENGLISH BULLDOG ANATOMY NOW IS SUCH THAT THE BREEDING HAS TO BE DONE BY POSITIONING THE PAIR AND MORE OFTEN ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IS NEEDED. THUS, A PORTION OF THE FIERCE BREED OF BULL DOGS, ONCE USED FOR BULL BAITING AND VARIOUS OTHER SPORTS HAS HAD TO ENDURE THE INDIGNITIES OF SELECTIVE CONFORMATION BREEDING. NOW THEY SUFFER WITH CHRONIC RESPIRATORY AILMENTS, CAN'T PRODUCE ON THEIR OWN AND ALONG WITH OTHER PROBLEMS, THEY DEPEND ON HUMANS FOR SURVIVAL AND EXHISTENCE. THEY LOOK GOOD AS A LOGO OR A HOOD ORNAMENT ON A TRUCK, BEAUTIFUL AND UGLY. SURELY THIS PORTION OF BULL DOG DESERVES "THE MEDAL OF HONOR"!!!
Hard Mouth reply to Just Me (mygsxr_1999) by Dawnrest Yes the distance between the furrow or top of head and the zygomatic arch, can make a difference. A wide head is not always as important as a deep head or a strong head with a well defined deep drop or stop, proper defined jaw muscles, tight jowls, and medium length tapered thick enamel. A short muzzle may be strong and breath well, where as a long muzzle may be strong and fast like an alligator. Some of these features may allow a dog to bite harder, when in harmony with one another. Every aspect of the head is important but, where biting pressure comes from and/or proper head features are not the only things that allow a dog to bite hard. For instance, the lungs play a big part, you can't bite - if you can't breath. Questions: does he have a hard mouth, does he have enough air, is he plucky, ready, will he be able, does he like and want to bite hard? Man is lucky to be given the opportunity to study such wonders.
"NICK" & "The Thanksgiving Day Pit Bull Dog" by Dawnrest We're wishing everyone a nice Thanksgiving holiday. It was close to one hundred years ago when a man named Nick raised Pit Bull Dogs up on the northeast coast. In those years the English and Irish had brought many a Bull Dog to the northeast of New England, from Nova Scotia, Canada and on down toward Boston. Nicks family were fisherman and they liked hunting, especially large game and wild turkey. The men supplied the food and the women prepared it, sometimes each doing a bit of both. Nick made post cards of one of his favorite Bull Dogs, a white with dark brindle patches and a patch eye. The dog had marble eyes, deep drop, undershot, and wore a 2" wide leather collar with 1 1/2" round studs. He was a very useful Pit Bull Dog, life was hard, and he played an important role in Nicks family, and was a fine looking Bull Dog to boot. The postage was 1 cent to mail a post card in them days, this exact one was a Moose series 697 post card. This Bull Dog lived a good life, was fed a diet consisting in the most part of turkey and oysters, his family loved him deeply. Nick was very proud of him as you can tell from this short history. This dog may be the only dog who ever celebrated with a Thanksgiving turkey feast year round.
Mr.Grady Cummings' "DUTCHBOY" & "The Fork Farm" by Dawnrest ~Mr.Grady Cummings' & The Fork Farm ~ is most often remembered for dogs like DUTCHBOY, MANDY, TINA, HANK, CH SOSO, DUTCHESS, DEAR ABBEY, YOUNG DUTCHBOY, RED FOX, TWIGGY, ELI II & III, and R.Harris' DUTCHBOY JR., strong Boudreaux' BLIND BILLY, BOZE, POCO and Tudor's DIBO crosses. DUTCHBOY was inbred BOZE, where as ELI JR., BRENDY, BULLYSON bellymates, grandsire bottom side only was BOZE. Grady always held Williams, Carver, Mtn. Man, Rebel and others in the highest esteem. He talked of CH PALADIN and GR CH ART frequently, and wrote about how ART, the dog with the heart, set the world on fire. Today Cummings dogs are extremely close related or quite similar to many of the popular lines. We've used dogs down from Cummings breeding: BRUTIS, LUCILLE, DOG, MISERY and MANIAC just as Loposay, Thurmond, Hall, Stephenson, Roberts, Scalia, McCollum, Hawley, Edwards, Ratliff, McGee, Clemmons and others have. Grady utilized some of the best chosen stock out of a good choice of background and accordingly set down a foundation that could carry its own weight. His days were numbered and the Fork Farm ended back in the 80's as fast as it started, and due to all the publicity chasing, those dogs down from pure Cummings are already few and far between. He never really established a family of dogs, but was off to a close start. Along with Cummings, went his Pit Bull Advisor, a good periodical for the time, and his American Pit Bull Association (A.P.B.A.). We were able to obtain some of it when Mr.Saviano and myself went halfs on the remains of the A.P.B.A. after J.King had sold off much of it trying to keep it alive. Neither of us wanted it for anything other than collecting peds, photos and mags. Either way, Grady Cummings made a great impact on the breed and he should be remembered for such work. It was said certain individuals wanted him out of the way, I'am sure where this vigorously medium set, fair complexion, blondish gentlemans journey was going with the dogs and had he been able to continue, he was going big places. He caught my attention more than a few times during his episode with the dogs. ~In memory of the outstanding accomplishments of Mr. Grady Cummings & The Fork Farm~
Loposay's "ZEKE" reply to Scott Delo (SureScratch) (Tim) by Dawnrest The picture of me with "ZEKE" was taken 11 years ago before he won his first and the picture of Zeke sitting, which is now all over the net, was taken by Knock Out for me when Zeke was old. He was catchweight, and conditioned at M54. I saw him into an unknown called "BO GATOR". on video. I believe the time was 1:35. They were heavy dogs and spent much time laying down from exhaustion toward the end. I didn't notice much hard biting due to loss of air. "BO GATOR" was picked up. The traits are from both sides and can be passed on for many generations. The chromosones, gametes, zygotes, phenotype, etc.. White dogs are sometimes more likely to throw various colors depending on the other dogs background and size of litter. I assume you mean at least 3 colors when you use pied as a description. If one color is white such as with markings you would not say pied. Pied is not often used to describe color by dogmen, for example - red, black, white. As for Loposay dogs, I like the old JR Loposay blood crossed right, the dogs down from "BULLET" 14x. There is lots of the old Loposay blood in Dawnrest Dogs from many angles, and much Cotton's "BULLET", "CH"BOE", "BUSTER" ROM and Shivars' dogs. Also much of the blood that beat "SNOOTY", the Tom's "CH"OBNOXIOUS OX" and "CH"RASCAL" crosses. The new Loposay blood bred by P. Loposay if fine, just like many good lines or strains, work to pull the best from it. I thought her and J.Hopkin's "HARLEY" dog was alright, the "WHISKEY" stuff was my last favorite Loposay. The original Backwoods from NC had the last best bred Whiskey as they were good friends when she lived near him. "OX", "BUSTER", "BULLET", "RASCAL", "WHISKEY", its all as good as the individuals employed. It's Colby, "BULLET", Colby, Carver, and P. Loposay is the place to get some. She's trustworthy and still has the Loposay dogs, bred with the later crosses. She's a 3rd generation breeder of Loposay dogs, with her parents and her grandfather before her, now comes a possible 4th generation.
Cotton's "BULLET" reply to Shoot1st by Dawnrest It is no doubt Cotton's BULLET was a good looking Bull Dog even with tall show cropped ears but, he was also a proven pit dog sired by Cotton's RENO and out of Thibodeaux' RUBY. Mr. Cotton traveled all around his state on various occasions, sipping brew with BULLET in his trunk, taking him out when agreed on and whooping every dog he met. The fact that BULLET is in so many good dogs ancestry and that many men formed their lines based on BULLET, tells his importance as a producer. His vague record of 14 wins was agreed on by many who new Cotton and BULLET, although most everyone at the time claimed there were many more wins and lots of otc's. It was documented by more than a couple men that Cotton once won four in one day with BULLET. Dogs sired by him such as BULLET II, Ed Crenshaw's SAD SACK, and Skinner's RODY carried on BULLET well, often crossed with Colby or Lightner. Today many pedigrees trace back to Rorex' BLACK LADY, Ed Crenshaw's RENO, Clayton's JAVA, Cummings' RED FOX, Loposay's QUEEN, Plumber's Ch ALLIGATOR, Stinson and Glover's GR CH ART, Marks' MIDNIGHT, etc., all of which trace back to the great Cotton's BULLET.
A CREATIVE ART OF BREEDING by Dawnrest I KEEP HEARING HOW ONLY THE FIRST FEW GENERATIONS IN A PEDIGREE ARE IMPORTANT. CHROMOSOMES ARE A DIVISION OF EACH PARENTS HERITABLE GENES. A DOG CONTAINS 39 PAIRS WHICH EQUAL 78, MUCH MORE THAN OTHER SPECIES. GENES CARRY HEREDITY WHICH ARE WITHIN CHROMESOMES, CHROMESOMES BEING INDEPENDENT. KNOWLEDGE OF GENETICS - CHROMESOMES IS IMPORTANT TO A CREATIVE BREEDER AS IT RELATES TO JOINING TWO CARRIERS OF GENES. THIS JOINING CAUSES THE OFFSPRINGS LOOKS, HEALTH, LENGTH OF LIFE AND BEHAVIOR, DEPENDING ON WHICH GENES FIND THE ZYGOTE. EACH INDIVIDUAL IS A MOSIAC OF HEREDITY OF THEIR ANCESTRAL LINES, NOT THE PARENTS, WHICH ARE A BLEND OF ANCESTOR BLOOD. FROM THIS ANCESTRAL HEREDITY AN INFORMED BREEDER CAN PICK BUILDING BLOCKS FOR A CHOSEN GENERATION. CHROMESOMES AND GENES ARE FORMED BY HEREDITY. KNOWLEDGE IN THESE AREAS HELPS ELIMINATE LOTS OF WASTED BREEDINGS. PRODUCING PUPS FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF SALE, STUDDING, OR WINNING IS WASTED GENETICS. THIS IS NOT A DOG BREEDER, AS BREEDING DOGS IS AN ART. A DOG BREEDER IS FOR THE DOGS SAKE, INTERESTED IN THE BETTERMENT OF THE BREED. HE WANTS NOT TO PRODUCE POSSIBLE FREAKS, BUT TO IMPROVE THE DOGS BY ELIMINATING THE WORST AND CONSERVING THE BEST GERM PLASMS, LOOKING AT THE BREEDS FUTURE. NOTHING IS GREATER FOR AN HONEST, KNOWLEDGEABLE, CREATIVE BREEDER THAN UNDERSTANDING HIS DOGS GENETICS ARE TIGHTLY WOVEN GENES CARRYING HEREDITY IN CHROMOSOMES. THIS BREEDER IS ABLE TO STACK THE DECK, BECAUSE MOTHER NATURE WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A BREEDERS IGNORANCE. INBREEDING, LINEBREEDING AND OUTCROSSING MAY NOT BE AS IT SEEMS, AS IT STILL JOINS THE GENES CARRYING HEREDITY IN CHROMOSOMES. INBREED WHEN YOU SHOULD, LINEBREED WITH A PURPOSE AND OUTCROSS TO ADD CHARACTERISTICS NOT PRESENT, UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR BREEDING FOR. REMEMBER HEREDITY CAN BE CARRIED FOR COUNTLESS GENERATIONS. IF YOU BREED A POOR QUALITY DOG WITH GOOD ANCESTRY INTO YOUR STOCK NOW, HIS QUALITIES ARE MORE LIKELY TO SHOW UP IN DESCENDANTS OF THAT OFFSPRING. STUDYING CHROMOSOMES, GAMETES, GENEOTYPES, PHENOTYPES, ZYGOTES IS USEFUL. - NO BREEDER IS STRONGER THAN THE BITCHES HE USES. THE BITCH IS THE FOUNDATION OF A SUCCESSFUL STRAIN. I MUST EMPHASIS THE IMPORTANCE OF HONEST ANCESTRY AND THE IMPORTANCE, NOT OF THE PARENTS GENES, BUT OF THE ANCESTRY, AS IT CARRIES THE GENES OF HEREDITY. REVERSION IS THE APPEARANCE OF SPECIFIC ANCESTRAL TRAITS NOT FOUND IN CLOSE UP ANCESTRAL GENERATIONS, ALSO KNOWN AS THROW BACKS. THIS IS IMPORTANT AS IT RELATES TO HEREDITY AND PROVES AGAIN WHY MANY GENERATIONS BACK IN HONEST BRED DOGS ARE AS IMPORTANT IF NOT MORE SO THAN THOSE CLOSE UP. AN HONEST AND CREATIVE BREEDER SHOULD BE ABLE TO PULL FROM THE GENE POOL DEEP WITHIN AND CAUSE REVERSION. THIS CAN CAUSE DOGS TO BE SIMILAR TO A SPECIFIC DOG OR DOGS MANY GENERATIONS BACK. THIS MEANS A CREATIVE BREEDER COULD USE A POOR BRED DOG OR A BAD DOG CLOSE UP AND WITH MUCH WORK BEGIN IMPROVING THE STOCK WHILE RETAINING AFTER A FEW GENERATIONS, REVERSION TO QUAILITY STOCK IN THE ANCESTRY. IT IS STILL RECOMMENDED TO START WITH A QUAILITY DOG, BUT THINK OF ALL THE GOOD LINES OR STRAINS THAT COULD OF BEEN PROPERLY PRESERVED. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW A BREEDER CAN FIND THE BEST HIS BLOOD HAS TO OFFER AND SUBSTANTIALLY IMPROVE IT OR MAKE IT BETTER THAN IT EVER WAS.
