| Family remembers its beloved pit bull There has been so much negativity on dog stories, I wanted to share a good dog story. We purchased our pit bull as a puppy. Over the years, she was our companion, playmate to our five children, guardian of our home and property. Everything we had was hers. She was a clown and loved roasted marshmallows when we had them. When we traveled, she adjusted easily to new surroundings. At night she would take a tour of our home to be sure everyone was safe before going to sleep herself. When we had baby chicks, she guarded them as if they were her own. In her 10th year, she became ill. After arriving home one day, she was resting under her favorite tree. She had waited for us. We told her we loved her and she passed away in my arms. Our daughter said, "I couldn't have asked for a better dog to be with my kids". Ban the pit bull? No, then other breeds should also be banned. There isn't enough room to speak of everything I'd like to, but someone once said to us, "If you can find one really good dog in a lifetime, you're doing well".
